KALLE KRAUSE showcases its strength in shopfront design

KALLE KRAUSE has developed and constructed an intricate and elaborate shopfront at the AQUIS PLAZA in Aachen for ECE Projektmanagement GmbH & Co.KG. The façade consists of individual polygons made from fire-resistant Alucobond which are attached to an intermediate ceiling using a steel substructure.

The big challenge for KALLE KRAUSE GmbH was to produce a harmonic tiling pattern which required very thorough and delicate work. Securing the individual pieces using an elevated work platform proved to be a real challenge for both balance and precision due to the large surface elements. The construction, which has a “wave-like” design, also demanded a great deal of skill when mounting the shop logo. The result: depending on how the light falls, the entire façade has a very different and ultra-modern appearance due to the unusual surface. The appearance of the futuristic frontage is given a harmonious finish with a number of sliding glass doors.

The AQUIS PLAZA in Aachen is a modern shopping centre close to the border triangle of Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. 130 shops, many of which are new to Aachen and have unique designs, are located on a retail space measuring 29,000 m2. The centre aims to transform a simple shopping trip into an exciting shopping experience. In doing so, great importance was attached to organic architecture, spacious walkways and a spectacular spatial experience in which the 7.70 metre high shop façade is perfectly integrated.
